Day 5 Cabane du Mont Fort to Prafleuri Hut map
From
the hut our route climbs gentle slopes to the Col de la Chaux. A nice
downhill run on the other side takes us to a small lake at the southwest
foot of the Petit Mont Fort. From here we climb again to pass through
the Col de Momin. From the Col de Momin we descend a bit and then climb
the Rosablanche which stands at an elevation of 3,336 meters. This day
winds up with a splendid downhill run from the Rosablanche to the Prafleuri
Hut.
Day 6 Prafleuri Hut to Dix Hut map
We'll
be getting an early start on this day so that we can cross the slopes
on the west shore of Lac des Dix before they become too soft as the
slopes are prone to avalanche. The big views on this day come as we
approach the Dix Hut. Mont Blanc de Chelion, a magnificent mountain
with an awesome north face dominates our view. The hut lies almost at
the foot of this mountain staring right into the north face. The Dix
Hut patio is a wonderful place to relax in the afternoon sun while getting
ready for the next day and taking in the spectacular views of Mont Blanc
de Chelion and our next day's route up over the Pigne d'Arolla.
