Day 8 Cabane du Vignettes to Zermatt
From the Vignettes Hut in the northwest corner of the map we head south then southeast towards the Col de L'Eveque along the routes marked 398 and 393. We then head east and then north to pass below the northwest face of La Vierge after which we head east to the Col du Mont Brule.
Next we work first north and then to the northeast to the Col de Valpelline.
The last leg of our last day begins on the very western side of this map and heads at first northeast then southeast to join the route marked on the map as 84 and then to Zermatt. You can see how close we pass underneath the Matterhorn. This whole last section is a great downhill run with a fabulous view of the mountain off to our right. Zermatt is several kilometers off this map to the east, all downhill.
