Gulf of Slides Ski Tour

Here, we've just exited a small section of dense trees and are preparing to ascend the south snow fields to the top of the Gulf. Notice how all the small trees in the foreground are leaning downhill, a sign of past avalanche activity. Everyone is wearing avalanche transceivers and we are also carrying enough shovels and avalanche probes to cover the group. All the terrain in the background provides excellent skiing opportunities.
